Overview
Jackborough was founded durring the early 16th century in summer of the year 1513, by Bendek Childers. The establishment of Jackborough was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Bendek Childers struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish Jackborough as a prison colony.
Jackborough was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the early 16th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Jackborough is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.
Jackborough is is constructed arround a series of broad canals mainstreets which form concentric circles, with smaller strait roads linking the circiles to each other at varrious points. The town is protected by a renforced stone fence which sits atop earthwork defences, for some of the best inexpencive defences a town of Jackborough's size could have. The town's well-designed, yet cheep have recently undergone extensive repairs and renovations, such that the repairwork is imeadiently apparent and can be spotted due to the diffring ages of materials. One can't help but wonder what brought the need for those repairs to the town.
Jackborough has a very calm atmosphere. People can be seen relaxing, scocilizing, and going about all manner of business other than the daily grind. Men, women, children, all can be seen enjoying life in a laid-back way in the many parks which line Jackborough’s streets. In spite of this, quite a few people can be seen reading and the town has an abundance of libraries. It’s quite clear the community values education.
Civic Infrastructure
Jackborough has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Jackborough. Jackborough has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. Cultural Notes
Jackborough's chapel was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is admittedly strange and non-linear style rooted in defiance of symmetrical shapes. It championed the creation of buildings with a unique visual appearance. the structural norms of classic buildings and deforms or moves away from elementary architectural principles. By including non-linear designs processed into its buildings and favoring fragmentation, this style expressed a form of controlled chaos. Its buildings appear out-of-the-ordinary, draw the eye in immediately and sometimes create a feeling of strangeness. These distorted shapes and structure are not reserved to the building’s outer facade, they destabilize interior elements too, favoring minimalism and play on people’s perceptions by injecting a futuristic touch.
In Jackborough hail is always enormous, yet harmlessly plinks off people, creatures, and structures.
The Achaierai near Jackborough are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.
Jackborough's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves ritual combat to channel Mysticism energies of tier 1 via oratory performances.
